Alopecia was divided into two main parts, namely:

Okay, I continue posting about the Definition of alopecia and its treatment.
What is recommended by the Office of Health:
Usually the doctor can establish the diagnosis by examining the hair
loss An da and taking a medical history, as androgenetic alopecia. If
the doctor suspects him to alopecia areata, the doctor will ask test
fluorescent antinuclear antibody (Fna), which detects the availability
of antibodies in the body. If antibody is present, then it becomes a
sign of an autoimmune disorder
Treatment Options :
Treatment depends on the type of alopecia that appears. If the form
is temporary alopecia, the hair will grow back without treatment. For
patients with alopecia areata, medications can help reduce hair loss.
Some men with hair loss male pattern can be considered surgery, such as
hair transplants, thinning scalp hair root grafts or skin grafts head.
For the pattern of male hair loss, can be used:
- Minoxidil (Rogaine)
- Finasteride (Propecia)
Drugs should be used continuously to maintain new hair growth. If you
are using a medication, the doctor should monitor you for side effects.
For the diffusion of women’s hair loss:
Minoxidil (Rogaine). Rogaine must be used indefinitely to maintain new hair growth.
For alopecia areata:
Corticosteroids, usually administered by injection in the scalp of
each month. In severe cases, corticosteroids may be administered orally.
Measures Surgical and Other Procedures
Surgical Measures to consider include hair transplants, thinning of scalp and hair root grafts or skin grafts head.
Complementary Therapy and Alternative Therapy
This therapy has only limited success in treating male pattern baldness.
Nutrition and Supplements
For alopecia areata
Biotin (300 micrograms per day) and minerals, such as those found in
blue-green algae (2-6 tablets per day), can increase hair growth. Biotin
and zinc aspartate has been used to treat alopecia areata in children.
However, there is no evidence that biotin would be more helpful, if
you already get enough biotin in your diet. Biotin is found in radish,
leaf lettuce, carrots, and tomatoes.
For androgenetic alopecia
Beta-sitosterol (50 mg twice per day) and Saw palmetto (200 mg twice
per day) seems to help hair growth in men with pattern hair loss with
men. In one study, men who take this combination has a greater hair
growth than men who took placebo. If you are taking any other medicines,
particularly hormone therapy, talk with your doctor first before taking
The next of alopecia and its treatment
The use of herbs is more approach towards strengthening the body
rather than treating disease. Herbs, however, can trigger undesirable
effects and can interact with other herbs, supplements, or medications.
For this reason, the use of herbs should be done with care, under the
supervision of a medical practitioner.
For androgenetic alopecia
Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens), 200 mg and beta-sitosterol, 50 mg, twice per day (see Nutrition and Supplements).
For alopecia areata
Aromatherapy, one study found that massaging the scalp with a
combination of several essential oils increases hair growth. Oils used
are lavender, rosemary, thyme, and cedarwood.
Because essential oils can be toxic, they are mixed with a carrier
oil in this case, jojoba or grapeseed oil, before being used to the
skin. Add 3-6 drops of essential oil with 1 tablespoon of jojoba or
grapeseed oil. Massage your scalp every day.
Massage therapy can improve circulation (and helps bring more blood
to the scalp, so that the transfer of oxygen from the blood to the scalp
will be more optimal) to reduce stress. Scalp massage using essential
oils of rosemary, lavender, thyme, and cedarwood may help improve
circulation (see Herbs).
Some people who use Finasteride (Propecia) can potentially reduce or
even be a boost libido erectile difficulties. If you are pregnant, it is
better to delay treatment until after the birth of your baby.
I have described, than I hope you understand the above Definition of
alopecia and its treatment. Article on Definition of alopecia and its
treatment I got from the University of Maryland Medical Center. With
